A cloud application leverages cloud computing in software architecture, often eliminating the need to install and run the application on the customer's own computer, thus alleviating the burden of software maintenance, ongoing operation, and support.
For many businesses, cloud computing is all about the delivery of scalable, efficient and cost-effective applications. At the 2011 Cloud Computing World Forum we saw a number of companies showcasing novel applications, monitoring tools and software as a service (SaaS), and 2012 is set to increase the level of sophistication and large-scale usability even further.
In 2011, our judging panel awarded the Best Cloud Application award to We Are Cloud, for their Business Intelligence tool Bime:

Criteria
In making their decision, our judging panel may consider the following criteria related to the Best Cloud Application category:
- What’s new, different or unique in terms of the delivery of the product
- The complexity of the application and how it is represented in terms of ease-of-use for the end-user
- The product's position as a global and local market innovator
- Unique implementation features
- Pricing and value for money
Process
Following the entry deadline of 20th April 2012, the judges will shortlist three entries in this category , with one winner announced at the Cloud Computing World Forum, on the 12th June 2012.
