Chris Pickles is Head of Industry Initiatives in the Global Banking & Financial Markets unit of BT Global Services. His responsibilities include interpreting the impact of industry and technology changes and new regulations on BT’s customers across the financial services sector worldwide. Chris has more than thirty-five years’ experience in the financial technology sector. Before joining BT he worked as secretary-general of the European Association of Securities Dealers in Brussels, head of exchange products for Deutsche Boerse Group in Frankfurt and as a marketing manager with Reuters in London, Paris and Frankfurt. Alongside his role at BT, Chris is a member of the Executive Committee of the Software and Information Industry Association’s Financial Information Services Division and of the Global Steering Committee of FIX Protocol Ltd.
Malcolm has over 28 years experience within the Financial Services industry. After completing his studies at S.A.T.S, Malcolm started his career in 1984 with Fedsure, within the Group Benefits Division. Over an 18 year period, he gained invaluable experience in Development and Programming and by 2001, Malcolm was appointed as the Divisional Head of IT.In 2001, Investec acquired the majority of the Fedsure Group and Malcolm was tasked with the clean up, consolidation and disposal of Fedsure’s infrastructure. This also involved the preparation of the applications for sale of the various books of business. The Fedsure Group was then absorbed into Investec, which then became known as Investec Employee Benefits (IEB).
Strini Mudaly is the group CIO of Gold Fields Limited. Gold Fields Limited is one of the world’s largest unhedged producers of gold with operations in south Africa, Australasia, South America and West Africa, with explorationsites at many locations around the world. Being a global CIO, responsible for global service delivery andmanaging large budgets, Strini has been focused on streamlining and improving service delivery as well asdelivering high-value projects in support of the Gold Fields business strategy. His primary attention has beendirected at achieving improvements in productivity and enabling cost efficiencies across all regions.
Dr Philemon Mphathi Mjwara (47) is the Director General of the Department of Science and Technology. Before becoming group executive for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in 2005, Dr Mjwara was the head of the CSIR National Laser Centre where he was instrumental in creating a network of laser centres in Africa.
Pieter has been in the software industry for more than 20 years in various roles, from software developer to sales director. In the last 5 years, he has specialised in business process and integration platforms and has extensive experience implementing these platforms. He has worked for a number of international software companies including Microsoft, Cordys and Software AG.
Kim Andersen brings the unique SaaS-it Consult offering to South Africa in partnership with CXO Advisor. SaaS-it Consult boasts among its clients a number of the largest IT companies, including Microsoft, CA Technologies and Rackspace. Kim is senior business executive, having served as CIO and CTO at Tieto, the largest Nordic Service Integrator, whose strength is in creating a vision and then following it through to the desired outcome. He has a very strong ability to translate IT needs into business language and get the common understanding and commitment to the business imperative. Kim is also an excellent public speaker.
Roelof Louw is the Head of Offering & Realisation Management at T-Systems South Africa, and responsible for the product and solution development of the T-Systems IT and TC Portfolio including Cloud Computing solutions. In addition, Roelof has specific responsibility to drive the Deutsche Telekom and T-Systems International Cloud Computing strategy into the South African and now African market.
His career in IT began in 1995, and spans the Computing Services domain with specific reference to data centre, server and storage operations. Building on his B.Sc in Computer Science and computing services operations experience, Roelof progressed into the Solution Architecture field for Computing Services and Cloud computing solutions. In 2006, Roelof obtained an MBA at University of Stellenbosch which enabled him to drive Business Development within the Computing Services and Cloud Computing context at T-Systems.
Roelof is a Cloud evangelist, brining his solid IT technology experience and business insight together within the context of Cloud Computing. He has a clear understanding of the Commercial model Cloud Computing solutions offer, and how they provide for the change IT services sourcing needs.
Mandla Mkhwanazi has been Transnet Limited’s group CIO since September 2010. Prior to this, he was CIO for Transnet Rail Engineering, a position he held after being the senior manager: Application and Business Process Improvement in ICT for Transnet’s National Port Authority. Mkhwanazi gained extensive experience in IT, international business consulting, business process improvement, transport and freight logistics, manufacturing and maintenance of rolling stock, mining, finance and auditing working in South Africa as well as in the UK and Germany.
Frank started his career 30 years ago as a junior programmer for Barclays, co-incidentally a mere 100m from BankservAfrica’s office. After 11 years as an independent software developer contracting mainly to FNB and Old Mutual, Frank moved to Nedcor as Program Manager and there completed his MBA. Subsequent to this he completed his Chartered Marketer qualification. His role as Chief Technical Officer for Edcon enabled him to bring about change that drove new levels of performance and ensured Frank an invite to lecture at the Microsoft University in Germany and international judging of software products. From Edcon Frank moved to UCS as the COO and was later promoted to CEO. Joining BankservAfrica in August 2010 as CIO, Frank believes a leader is nothing without a good team. He has extensive experience in software development and ICT architecture and strategy.
A business leader and innovator in the IT industry with over 15 years’ experience of senior and executive management, software development and enterprise consulting, Simon Hudson is currently Executive Head: Business Improvement and Group CIO for Indwe Broker Holdings. Prior to this role he was a consulting IT executive and founder at Amalgam IT Partners, ensuring companies such as Indwe Risk Services, Eduloan, Heinemann Publishers, The Board of Healthcare Funders, Biobox, Standard Bank (Beyond Payments), The Presidency of South Africa, South African Tourism, Fleet Street Publications, Eskom (Amos Laycock) and a host of other organisations, derived the maximum possible value from their IT investments.
Sipho Masinga was born into a business family. He completed his studies at Empangeni High school. He was poised to pursue commercial studies, having been offered a bursary to study towards being a CA, but the love for engineering and science got the better of him; he enrolled himself for Electronic Engineering majoring in electronic communications at the Durban University of Technology.
Being from a lesser privileged family, he pursued his studies and worked part time throughout his tertiary studies. This strengthened both his engineering and general commercial skills as there were training programmes also associated with the part time work.
Stephan started his career in IT security as a technician. He was enthusiastic and passionate about all things technically challenging. After a few years he was approached by Kaspersky Lab to head up the South African office due mainly to his ability to tackle large, difficult tasks with a cool head. His title when starting at Kaspersky Lab was Corporate Sales Manager. During this role, he managed to grow the channel extensively and make strong business relationships. He is now the Managing Director for the Sub-Saharan region of Kaspersky Lab Africa and is taking the company from strength to strength.
Johan joined Consol in January 2002 as the chief information officer and is currently the information technology divisional director. He was previously with Kumba Resources and prior to that Iscor.

Frank Rizzo is a partner in KPMG, and has been with KPMG for the past 18 years. He is currently responsible for the IT Advisory practice in South Africa and is the Head of ITA (Risk & Compliance) for Europe, Middle East and Africa. Frank is also the sector head for the Information sector for KPMG in South Africa. Frank’s professional and educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Accounting, Chartered Accountant (SA), Certified Information Systems Auditor, Certified Information Security Manager, and Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT.
Abby Wakama is the Publisher and Executive Editor of ITNewsAfrica.com, an online news service that provides IT and Telecoms information to senior executives and IT professionals in the ICT sector. He consults regularly with corporations in the ICT sector on digital strategy and doing business in Africa. He has been a guest expert on several radio and TV shows (CNBC Africa, SABC International) focusing on ICT. Prior to his current position, he was Digital Project Manager at STONEWALL Digital, a digital marketing agency and managed several projects for various South African listed entities including Investec, MTN Group, Primedia and Adcock Ingram. He was also Web Director of African News Dimension, a digital news agency based in Johannesburg.

Industry expert Antonio Piraino guides ScienceLogic's IT management vision and product strategy.Antonio has 17 years of IT experience in sectors ranging from telecommunications to software development. A noted thought leader in cloud computing, Antonio came to ScienceLogic from Tier1 Research (a division of The 451 Group).As vice president and research director at Tier1, Antonio provided insight to service provider and enterprise clients, with a focus on data center, hosting and cloud computing technology research. Prior to Tier1 Research, Antonio was a technical manager for gaming software development firm Derivco.

Yolisa offers more than a decade of experience in the IT industry, with a focus on Application/Software Development. She began her career as a Lecturer at the University of Fort Hare specialising in software development and further continued lecturing in academic institutions like Walter Sisulu University/Eastern Cape Technikon and Tshwane University of Technology. Yolisa is currently Head of Development at First National Bank, in her role she heads up application development teams that delivers and maintains systems which provides enhanced, measurable and automated business processes that reduces the turnaround times of achieving sales and therefore improving sales productivity for the entire bank.
Carel Bouwer is the Regional IT Strategy & Planning Director for Lafarge in Middle East and Africa. Lafarge is a world leading building materials manufacturing company with turn-over in excess of 15 Billion Euros, representation in 64 countries and more than 68 000 employees. With more than 12 years of experience in the IT industry, of which half were spent abroad in Asia and Europe, Carel’s career highlights entails rolling out of an ERP core model in more than 19 countries, with the largest being a 7500 user instance, and spearheading the establishment and operating of an offshore IT services delivery model. During 2011 he embarked on implementing workforce mobility solutions and participating in defining an enterprise mobility strategy.
